The ArcelorMittal Science Centre in Sebokeng is an organization that is based on the development of its community. The Centre aims to uplift skills and develop the surrounding local communities with the hopes to positively benefit the Vaal / Sedibeng region.
Two of the qualities that are absolutely commendable about the Centre are that it involves an abundance of passion and respect that the employees have towards their work as well as the community. The Centre has different programs that are taking place, all which are targeted at different demographics.
The programs range from outreach where the Centre teaches non-focused schools in subjects like: Mathematics, Physical Science and Life Science. The Science Communication team provides science experiments to active schools in the community that do not have excess to laboratories which in the long interim will contribute towards their SBA marks. The ECD (Early Child Development) and Life Skills program focuses more on the development of children as early as 5 years old and introducing them to the amazing world of literacy, numeracy and science. There are also courses in IT and office administration for out-of-school individuals who want to better their skills and ultimately, their lives.
The Centre prides itself with the robotics program with the intention to enhance technology and innovate the way in which science is taught. Over and above everything, the Centre aims at providing professional and excellent services to its community.
